A Woman, Here and There, 2019
23”x 39”
White Pegboard, Red Cotton Thread, Copper Wire
Various cutouts of Farsi letters form the word "woman," wrapped in red thread and copper wire, then rearranged and layered on top of the pegboard. Sharp lines of copper wire wrap themselves around the letters to secure and choke them.
The limitation and the voices that have been taken away from women are being to attention. The work represents the enormous effort that a woman needs to break herself free from all obstacles that come her way only because she is a woman.
